    Egg Cutting Question

OK...this is my first clutch it is now at 54 days...so after a search on this site I found that most will cut their eggs by now. So that is exactly what I did...I cut a small wedge shaped cut out of the eggs...but now what?

I can see the snake's bodies...now do I just let them come out? How long should that take?

I only cut the egg not the yolk sac...am I supposed to cut that as well? (2 of the eggs the sack has seperated from the egg wall, on one it is still attached)

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Egg Cutting Question

To cut or not to cut, that is the question? Some people cut their eggs and others do not. The reasoning behind cutting the eggs, is to help weak animals that may have otherwise died from not being able to cut their own way out, to be able to exit the egg. Some animals may have a deformed or missing piping tooth and cannot make it out on their own. Most snakes can and will pip their way out of the egg. on a side note, I have cut eggs and had the snake pip out of the side even though there was a cut on top. Even though you cut your eggs, don't expect the snakes to spring out immediately. Most eggs will hatch between day 57 and 60, so it may be a few more days before you see heads poking out.
p.s. Alot of the people that cut their eggs are really doing so to find out what they
are going to get a little early, kind of like peeking at your presents a week before
    Christmas.
    Hope that helps,

    Re: Egg Cutting Question

Thank Tim...When I did a search several of the posts I found lead me to believe that much past 51 days could indicate an issue where the snake might drown hence the need to cut (most seemed to indicate 54 as being the threshold). I wasn't really in any hurry just concerned about them dying in the egg. I will just wait and keep an eye out for them.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Egg Cutting Question

Someone wise once told me its cool to cut all eggs after the first one pips. Big difference between doing that and cutting at day 40 to find out what you have
