If you are not comfortable wiring cords to flex watt you can buy a exo terra heat pad made by hagen. they are very inexpensive and work great. just take out of box and plug in. it would be a good idea to use a thermostat or some other way to control the temperature.
or just pony up an extra $2 and have rich do it for you and still come out cheaper than an exo terra
Rich of Reptile Basics doensn't charge to wire for you. You just by the flexwatt and connectors and he'll do it for free for you if you ask.
Rich at ReptileBasics (www.reptilebasics.com is who I got my Flexwatt from. As Robin said, you order your flexwatt and the connectors, and in the "notes" section of the order sheet, ask him to wire it for you. He does it for no charge. At Reptile Basics you'll spend about:
1 Ft of 11" Flexwatt: $3.40
Connector Kit: $5.00
Shipping to me is: $7.04
So total is: $15.44 (including having it wired, as the wiring is free)
Even if you buy a regular heat pad at a store, you won't pay less than $15 for a heat pad at the size you'll need. And if you buy online from a store, you'll pay the $15+ for the pad plus shipping...
But an important thing to note, with a heat pad OR Flexwatt (especially)--you NEED to have a thermostat to control it, or you risk burning your snake
thanks. i got a thermostat for UTH pads. its a repti stat 500R. but im gonna order a helix.
yes u are so lucky for finding this site to find out information before you do what i did i seriously spend around 600 bucks for just the setups. eh... doesnt bother me really cause its a learning experience. guess ill go spend another 500 makin a rack, but as long as the babys are comfortable and better, thats all that matters.
