What to do?
When i first got my BP, he was very friendly, very curious, and very active. However he went through bit of a fussy phase while he was having a bad shed, due to i was having problems keeping humidity up, and the temps stable, etc, but i have those all under control now, and have for a while now.
But my problem is this, i haven't handled him in probably a good 2 to 3 months, he seems like he's been very edgy, and kind of upset, so i haven't really handled him because of that. But when i take him out of his cage and put him in his little box ( which is clear ) he goes from 'strike, don't mess with me, scared mode ' to ' WHOA THIS IS AWESOME, ALLOW ME TO GO ALL OVER THE PLACE'
I always held him for like 15 mins a day at first, and what not. I have yet to get bit, and am not afraid of it, just the anticipation, what's the best way to start handling him again and get him use to me? and does it sound like there could be something wrong with him?

Re: What to do?
i had some great advice from frankykeno when i first started out which snakes. she told me to follow a routine with my ball, dexter.
i would take off the top of the enclosure and remove his hide. then i would stroke his side a few times and pick him up, putting both hands under him quickly so he felt completely supported.
then i would just sit still and let him unball and check things out himself. after about 10 minutes, i'd put him back in his hide. i did this about 3 times a week max.
that is, of course, if all your husbandry issues are correct. are your temps 90-92 on the warm side and 80-82 on the cool side? do you have two nice snug hides for your snake, one on each side? how about some safety/privacy. is your enclosure a plastic tub or a glass tank? if it's a tank you can cover three of the sides to give added security and even ball up some newspaper and fill the tank with it. this will make your snake feel very safe and secure.
every week, remove one piece of newspaper until the tank is empty weeks/months later.
hope some of this helps ya out.
in light, Aleesha
