    Boa Not Eating

Ok about 2 1/2 months ago I rescued this girl. She was eating f/t rats just fine and then she went into shed like the middle of Feb and has'nt eaten since. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her. She is very active and is passing urates(spelling?) weekly. I've tried both live and frozen and she doesn't seem to be interested. Temps and humidity are to the caresheet on this website. I'm pretty new to the boa world and I've just heard that they have a very strong feeding response. I'm used to my BP's and JCP who stop eating in the cooler months, but I guess I'm being a liitle over cautious with this gal. I would like to see her put on some weight since she does seem a little skinny. Any comments and suggestions are welcomed.
    Thanks

Have you gotten her checked for parasites? The only time I hear of boas refusing food is when they are gravid unless they are sick. My 2 both eat in blue every time. Just keep the hot side at about 90-93 until she gets eating again and make sure shes parasite free. Sometimes they seem to refuse large meals so maybe a small meal may help. The only other thing I can think of is try mice instead of rats and if worse comes to worse either try chicks or scent with chicks

Ok thanks. I have tried mice too. And have also taken her to the vet after I acquired her. I was thinking that I had her temporarily in a 32qt steralite which is a bit small for her size and maybe she wasn't happy. I just moved her into her new Animal Plastics cage so maybe things will change for the better.

You can only hope. The next think I can think of is the scenting with chicks. I've heard of that working well for BCI but I haven't ever used it.

I guess after a week or 2 in the new cage you can try feeding and see how that goes. Are you sure she isn't going into shed?

No signs of shed i.e pink belly, blueing. I'll let her get accustomed to her new cage and then try feeding in a week. If still she refuses I'll make another vet trip.

If you are sure she doesn't have parasites, an RI, or IBD, I see no reason for a vet visit yet. Just keep her hydrated and stress free.
