Rack and tub question
Something that mindlessly came into my head today while cleaning tubs. I am wondering how many of you using racks are anal about always keeping the same snake with the same tub? For me I've found having an "extra" tub really speeds things up for cleaning...I do the same thing for my rodents. I take the extra tub make sure its cleaned and transport the snake (or rodents if doing those tubs) into that tub and then the wheels are in motion from there.

Re: Rack and tub question
I have a few extra tubs to speed things up. It gets sanitized and cleaned before another snake goes in though.

Re: Rack and tub question
i generally keep my snakes in the same tub, but it is more the position in the rack that i'm focused on. i know in my head what snake is in what spot so i don't use labels at the moment, except for the clutch that i hatched out last season--they aren't named yet so i just don't want to confuse myself when it comes to their records. when i take the tubs out and actually sterilize them with bleach and water then i don't pay attention to what tub belongs to what snake when i put them back in the rack. i used to label my water bowls, but that didn't last long.

Re: Rack and tub question
I keep my herps in a specific order and stick to specific tub setups. I have 2 ball racks, and the top rack has been on nightdrops (it's full of adults). The bottom rack has the younger balls in it, which did not experience a night drop.
I've never put labels on the tubs. I use the metzcal recording software. The software also keeps track of all of the caging, which means each animal is assigned a specific tub in the software.
I also have a couple of thayeri kings which are siblings and look very similiar, so if I didn't keep them in the exact tubs, I'd have a hard time keeping track of which one is which.

Re: Rack and tub question
Mine stay in the same tubs due to the method I use to clean... I have a smaller holding tub that the snakes sit in while I clean out the tub they live in. When I am done, they go back in.

Re: Rack and tub question
I guess should answer my own poll I don't specifically "try" and use the same tub unless it works out that way. All tubs are setup the same way. Strangely though I keep the same PVC water holder with each snake. As for layout I usually have the rack sectioned into males and females, like females on the right males on the left.

I specific info on the outside of each of their tubs.. So, the snake comes out,tub gets cleaned and then snake goes back in....

Re: Rack and tub question
I try to keep everything in the same tub and same position in the rack. I always know where everything is. Any other way would confuse me I also use plastic sleeves and index cards on the outside of each tub

Re: Rack and tub question
We rotate tubs and each tup has an index card with velco on the back so we can move records quick and also remove records when the tub needs a real good washing. Seems to be working well, except when the cat thinks the cards are fun to play with.

Same tub for each snake after every cleaning for my main animals.
The only ones that change locations are ones in QT or available or sold.
