Lighting
Had a quick concern, Does it matter if i use a black bulb at night, or a red one? Can i use a red one? or is that bad? I've been using a black one, but it really doesn't produce alot of heat, i just didn't know if there was a difference in lighting at night?
Also, i just took my tubaware thing with damp moss out and gave him a hide, it's a white bowl that i made an opening in, like in alot of the pictures i've seen you all have like black hides, does color really matter? is this fine? I just did the duct tape and tinfoil thing on the top of the cage, and am now misting it for the humidity, i have the aspen bedding, and that's very dry so i think that really kills the humidity, how many times should i have to mist it? and another simple question i know is in another thread but might as well ask, what should the humidity be at again?
thanks.

Re: Lighting
you can use a red bulb as long as it is an infrared bulb. pretty much any red bulb you get at a petstore should be infrared. (snakes can't see infrared light, so it doesn't disturb them).
any color hide is fine as long as it is opaque. if it is see-through your snake won't feel secure in it.
you might try cypress mulch bedding--it holds humidity much better than aspen. you will have to mist according to the humidity level with the adjustments that you have made to your setup. your humidity should be at about 60%.
