It really varies a LOT from one place to another. I've heard quotes anywhere from $35 to $75 for just an office visit...not including any treatments or extras like sexing. Your best bet is to just call the vet you'd like to visit and ask. They'll tell ya.
my vet charges $28 for an office visit. for a fecal (which you will most likely want to get done) he charges $12. any medications or other special services are extra.
you can call around and get prices from vets in your area before you set up an appointment so you know exactly what you're looking at before you go.
Our vet was $25.00 for the visit, $20.00 for a fecal float if I remember correctly. We always got a major discount since we take in snakes for rescue/rehab occasionally and she always gives any client willing to help animals in need a discount on her services.
Most clinics will give you a quote for services if you call around. Do make sure whatever vet you pick has herp experience though.
bah! i'm already jealous of you and your wonderful vet. don't go making it worse!
'Tis ok! He's good at general wellness, and testing for parasites, anything more serious and I have another herp vet programmed into my cell phone that was referred to me by the GA Herp Society, the Atlanta Zoo Reptile Department and a local breeder.
I love my vet, but if it were anything really serious, I'm not entirely sure he's up to date on his herp knowledge. He freely admits that I know more about ball pythons than he does (proper husbandry, sexing, those types of things).
Fur babies - he's the vet for me, anything that requires more herp experience than the routine fecal exam - I'll use the other guy.
But I'll still take his office visit charges (or lack thereof ) any day!
