    Re: heating

a couple of questions, do they sell the heat mats for reptiles? and do they sell the ceramic emitters? alot of stores only recommend what they have to sell!

heat mats, flexwatt, etc. are fine for bp's. make sure it is a product designed for reptile use, not a human type heat pad.

    Re: heating

I would recommend a heat mat. They use less power, are cheaper, and won't suck up humidity(which I think I read CHE will do)

dont use heat rocks, snakes tend to get to comfortable with them and burn themselves in the process.

    Re: heating

    Hi,

    depends why they recomended it.

If it was because they don't think the heatmats will be able to reach and maintain the temperatures required in your set up and climate then I'd say that it's probably a good idea as long as its gaurded and thermostaticaly controled etc and you can compensate for the loss of humidity.

I use a couple myself for that very reason.

If it's because they have hundreds in the stockroom and the manager wants the space then possibly a knee to the happy sacks is in order. But ask for a discount first.

It all comes down to what your set up is going to be and what conditions it will have to cope with. No sense everyone pointing out ball pythons prefer belly heat (and they do from all I can read) if the only belly heat you can find can't get the warm end hotter than 85F.

Basically we need more information to know for certain and it also comes down to the trust level you have in the shop. So go on slap up some pics of the tank and the temps you have at the mo.

havent got any pics yet,put i have a glass tank with screen covered, the heatmat doesnt get as warm as the ceramic bulb when plugged into the thermostat, temperatures are 92-93 degress, but i do find i have to mist as the bulb sucks the humidity abit
