    Snake-Sitting

I'll be snake-sitting my friend's corn snake till the end of February or March. At the petstore, we were told it was a Candy Cane Corn snake. The candy canes that I've seen have always looked different so I was wondering if you guys could tell me what exactly he is.

Also, she wants me to feed him live while he's here. My snake eats frozen/thawed. It'll be wierd for me to feed live. She said she'd come over once a week to feed him, but just in case she can't, do you think it'd be ok to try to get him to eat a frozen/thawed?

While taking care of this little guy, I'm going out to get new stuff for Zim. He's going to get a complete cage make-over. He's getting Bed-A-Beast substrate for him to burrow in. He's getting a branch to climb in, a natural looking waterdish, and soon he'll get a weight scale so I can keep track of his growth.

Well, here are pictures of Gir, if you can possibly identify what type of Corn he is.

He's cute! As for what kind he is, I don't know.
And for the feeding: if he is used to live, he may not take f/t. You'd just have to experiment(only if that's ok with his owner!)

    Best of luck!

    Re: Snake-Sitting

Looks like a nice albino/amel motley to me, maybe even close to being a sunglow. Time will tell if the borders on the spots diffuse or become clearly white. Candy canes are red and white - no orangey/yellow/peachy sides. Good examples at MOReptiles and VMSHerp.

From the pictures, he looks like a young fellow, somewhere in the 20g mark? If so, I doubt you'll have any problems getting to take F/T or live...from my experience with my youngster corn, he wants FOOD...and he wants it NOW! Jenson has had live and F/T and really hasn't seemed to care one iota which is offered...as long as it IS offered *chomp!*
0.1 ball python (Cleo), 0.1 surinam bcc (Carmen)
1.0 sunglow motley corn (Jenson), 1.0 albino burmese (Lourdes)
1.0 cat (Nicky), some mooses and ratters, 1.0 hubby (Rick)

    Re: Snake-Sitting

Well I'm not snake-sitting anymore. My friend found someone closer to her house who can take care of the snake. That way she doesn't have to drive all the way over here to feed her snake. Well I'm off to the petstore to get stuff for Zim.
