Securing Tstat probe inside cage

Does anybody have any good ideas as to how to secure my thermostat probe inside my cage? Its a wooden cage and theres no place on the outside of the cage to attach the Tstat probe to. I'd like to just tape it to the bottom, because CANT move, that could produce problems, but I heard tape isn't good for inside cages. Any suggestions?

Try securing it from the outside. I mean...I know the probe will be on the inside...but slide it into place using as little cord as possible, then tape the remaining cord down on the outside. The snake might push it side to side a little, but he won't be able to pull it completely off the heat.


This is assuming you have an access hole cut for it close to where you want the probe to rest. This is how I have my tub set up.

That may work, I'll give it a try. I have one hole drilled at the floor near where I wanted to place it. I am concerned though if the snake is to move it too far off, the temp could go up a few degrees.

Ok, I gave it a try, and I also put some silicone over the wire where it comes through the hole to try and aim it down so it stays close to the floor. Its still pretty loose though, I'm not real sure of its acuracy.

PS - how long does silicone take to dry, dry enough to put snakes in?
