Re: My rat breeders!!!
Awww.... they are so cute. I cute not breed rats for feeders. I already have kept and found a home for one rat Zeke did not eat and the last one went back to the store as it was to young to eat on its own. If I handle it I am attatched and that is not good as it would not be long before I had a house full of rats:eek:

Re: My rat breeders!!!
Might be the picture, but they look awfully little to be breeding. I waited until the girls were 250-300 grams before introducing them to the male.
Hope you have nice healthy litters!

Nice looking breeders is that darkest one a dumbo? It kind of looks like it from this angle.
Why is it that rats always have to drop a load the minute you take them out of their cages? It never fails, the minute you pick them up they're firing pellets out of their butts like some kind of a rat cannon.

I'll get a weight on them for you later. I believe they are plenty big.

I've noticed that too . I've also noticed that when I put them in an empty tub while cleaning their tub they will all crap it full. I think it is some type of stress response. I'd assume its their equilivent of musking.

Re: My rat breeders!!!
All of them are just under 200 grams according to this cheap postal scale. Unfortunately the lineage they come from(well the 2 generations I know of) were slightly smaller than usual. These girls are from a hairless mother which did have problems lactating so they may be smaller than the "normal" rat
