Talking was able to get my rescued BP into the vet today!

i took john into the vet for a wellness check and what the heck a sexing too. well, it's healthy other than being really under weight and raving some retained shed. but as far as parasitie, mites, ticks, RI etc very healthy. vet gave it a shot of AED which he explained is a vitamin nutrient mix to help gain weight....have to give it one every 2 weeks till up to weight!

well here's the sad part, this BP is between 2-2.5 years old and almost 4 foot in length and only weighs 363grams! yeah wow....my yearling weighs 225grams! so in finding this out the vet said i should try and feed every 2-3days as long as it will eat....so i bought another mouse tonite and it chomped that sucker before i even got it all the way in the tank. everything is going well ....so far...what should a healthy female around 4' weigh 2500-3000 grams? if so i have a ways to go.

also since i was there we decided to sex it just to be sur ehe wanted to show me the hemipenis's so he shot some saline just below the opening into the tail and popped it, and we're sitting there expecting to see these huge things come out, and after 4-5mins of waiting nothing....so John is nto John he's a she..lol....now she needs a name...

i also soaked her today and helped rub some of the retaining shed off, and it's not black and carmel/gold like my other BP she's brown and lighter brown, the guy i rescued her from said it was HET for something but couldn't remember what and he couldn't find the card it came with 2+ years ago. i called him tonite and he said he lost the card the first day and the snake was sold to him gender unknow and he assumed a male...so now i need to find out what it would be HET for ....any idea how? he bought it from a show and don't remember anything, shoot from the looks of things he even forgot to feed her!

same as a normal one, he gave me the nitamins/nutrients for free just gonna take her back when it's time for them to let him give them, don't feel comfortabel injecting with needles, oral is a different story but i wont do needles unless me having to do it was ABSOLUTLY the only way ... 32.00

Nope, no way to find out what she's het for. Besides which, since female hets are generally significantly more expensive than their male counterparts - I seriously doubt he purchased a het from someone who didn't even sex the animal before selling it.

Treat her as a normal. Sounds like you're on the right track with her already!

I have a question. The part where he shot the saline in and popped it you both waited 4 to 5 mins and since nothing popped out he labeled it a female .Since this snake is way under weight i would expect its muscles to be crappy also.I do not think i would safely label it anything except under fed.Once you get it healthy i would have someone probe it.

he will not probe them....he prefers this method, it may have been longer than the time noted but he kept working at it tryign to get them to come out, he showed me the anal glands and where you would put the probe but couldn't find any hemipenis. i will have it done again. one it reaches 1000+grams.
