How do you get you BPs to pose for the camera?

My wife wants a photo to take to the office. Everytime I get ready to take a picture of Fluffy, he bolts. He can really move fast. Even if someone is holding him, he sees a camera and he starts moving around.

The only thing I can think of is making sure he is good an comfortable in his hide then lifting it. He usually stays still for a few seconds.

Any advice on this one will generate pics for the gallery.

I read on a thread not to long ago here, someone usuing a slightly chilled water bowl and placing it over the snake for a few seconds, when the bowl was lifted off it was supposed to keep the snake still, seeing as how it dropped the snakes body temp. Im not sure I would like doing this but in theory it would work.

Does he normally squirm alot when you are handling without a camera present? Maybe you should just hold him a while and wait for him to settle down while your wife has the camera at hand, and just wait for a good opportunity. If I hold Monty long enough, he usually just wraps around my wrist and forearm and just sort of hangs out.

I've got a few that I always get shots of them slithering out of the shot. I generally place my hand over them and their head, focus, remove my hand and quickly snap the picture. Takes a few shots to get a good one.

Some of them I can lightly tap their nose and they'll freeze, others could care less and keep on going! Welcome to the wonderful world of snakes! LOL

Same here! I "hold" them till they are still...ish, then focus, remove my hand and snap! Good luck!

What i always do is 1. put them on something else, you can be creative with it, try on a mirror, or a plexiglass sheet with light under it. If that still doesnt work, i know that when i hold my snakes for a long period of time they get really calm and stop moving a lot. hold him and let him slither over your hands as much as he wants, eventually he will calm down, then have your wife take the pictures. Or, she holds him, and you take the pictures. Just make sure that it is a snake friendly environment, no fast movements, no running children or dogs, etc. etc.

I did not do the cold water thing. but all the rest I tried. I got about 30 pictures. Most are out of focus. I will be editing the lot tonight so I should have something to post tomorrow!!!

Welcome to the Frankykeno School of Crappy Snake Pics, Akiva LOL. I have a horrible time getting a good picture and forget belly shots...pure glare if I use a flash...dark and impossible to see detail if I don't.
