I doubt if some 81 year old guy is out messing with Stingray's. It also probably saved his life leaving the barb in until doctors could remove it...

Re: Man in critical condition after stingray attack in boat

The only reason this is even on the news is because of Steve. Had this happened prior it would have been chalked up to a freak occurance, even if it did happen. I'm sure a bunch of people died today of a lot stranger causes that we didn't hear about.

    I just hate the media....

Re: Man in critical condition after stingray attack in boat

I scoffed at the TV this morning hearing about this. Just the way she said "a man is in critical condition after a stingray jumped into his boat to attack him..."

    I just couldnt swallow it.

I hate when they make it seem like the animal seeks out and ATTACKS someone, when it was just doing what it does, just so happens that what it does is jump out of the water. Then the thing is freaking out in the boat of course it is gonna react deffensivly. Though i am preaching to the chior i guess huh? You guys get what i was gettin at im sure!

Dead on Rich! Same thing they did with the shark attacks in Florida. Here is some info for you:

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission there were 37 known vending machine fatalities between 1978 and 1995, for an average of 2.18 deaths per year. Over the past decade there were a total of six recorded shark attack fatalities in the U.S., for an average of .6 deaths per year.

So that means you are 4 times more likely to die being crushed by a vending machine than a shark attack. Stop the insanity!
