Most all herpers have a stock pile of empty or cracked 10 gallon tanks and usually some other sizes. Biggest problem with tanks it that they are top loading and therefore not stackable......until now!
I am building conversion kits for tanks to make them stackable front opening enclosures. Below are a couple of pics of 10 gallons that have been converted with our kits.
Not all tanks are exactly the same so some may have to be shimmed, etc.... to get the stacking to come out right. We recommend using Velcro strips between the stacked tanks for added stability. Also not stacking too high without some kind of frame would be avoided......These kits hold in humidity extrememly well so keep that in mind when choosing the substrate.
The kits are going to be available in different sizes and so on.......Terrestrial and arboreal will be available. Custom sizing will be offered to those with an oddball tank as well.
On the tanks in the pic I used rivets to secure the kit to the tank.......you can use this method or simply glue the fronts on using silicone or plastic weld glue.
Pricing is still being worked out, as we want these to be very affordable. Base pricing as of yet is in the area of $35-45 shipped depending on latch style and so on.
Here are the pics:
In the top pic the white area at the bottom of the Lexan door is a sticker not a chip......LOL![]()
