Poop?

K, probably the worlds silliest question, but can anyone explain to me how often, and when a corn snake poops. . . I've read it's about 10 days after they eat. Do they only poop once? Little Nocona just ate two pinkies on thursday, and I'm scared he's gonna poo or regurge if I pick him up. His tummy is sooooo fat . Not that I would mind, I just want to know what to expect. . . I hear it's really stinky. I wanna play with him, should I pull out the paper towel?

First of....Your nto supposed to hold a snake 2-3 days after a meal. On my cornsnakes I normaly dont untill after 3 days. Look at his cloaca region..you will be able to tell when he is about to poop. I find a big range from when my snakes poop. Normaly 5-15 days later.

I'm certainly no corn expert, but general snake guidelines say that a) they'll poop when they're ready to poop and b) if your snake still has quite a lump, probably better to leave them alone to continue digesting. Generally no handling until at least 48 hours after they've eaten, but if one of our snakes still has a good lump, we'll leave them be another day or two.

I get worried handling our snakes if I see a "bulge" near the cloaca because that usually means they're gonna go "soon" (in the next 5 minutes, in the next 5 days, something like that) - but then I'm paranoid since I've been peed on three times. =)

If he's still on pinkies, it's probably going to be sort of runny. Until there's more meat and fur on the prey, their stools are loose.

Kishnah didn't poo, but usually MUSKED. ! CeCe, the goober! STILL does when she squirms around, complaining she doesn't want to be held. pthththth

More food, more frequently equals more poo. I haven't heard of any set or suggested time frame/limit of eating and pooing.

Hera being really large, doesn't poo as often, but there's MORE of it, as compared to Wrigley, Zeus or the tiniest, the baby corn Flurry.

Yours will poo when it's digested enough. Just feed him his prey once a week but if there's still a big lump, I personally would offer only one pinky next time.

How old is Nocona? Flurry is only about 6 weeks old, so he's getting one pinky every 4 days or so, but pretty soon he'll be down to once a week. That's how we did Kishnah, and she's just zooming in growth.

Thanks for the info. That's why i thought I could hold him today. I fed him on thursday, so I thought today (sunday) would be okay to take him out. I noticed the poop in his tummy when I bought him, so I know what that looks like. They poop more than once after eating right?

Really, the best answer is the go when they need to go. Both our ball and boa have pooed twice in one week before, but generally they seem to "save it up" for special occasions, like when the cage has just been cleaned.

*That's* when snakes poo. In a freshly cleaned cage.

Thanks for all the response everyone. . I'm not sure exactly how old Nocona is. . . I think he was born roughly in mid june. The breeder is at an expo. . . she's sending all the feeding charts and everything when she gets back. She told to feed 2 pinks the first feeding, then one a week after that. He has a little bulge still, but not huge. Like I say, it's been three days since he was fed, but his tummy is still a little wide, although not nearly as much. And as for feeding. . . the little goober was looking for a THIRD. I was only going to give him one, but Twilight is getting ready to shed, and so she refused, and I fed it to Nocona. It only took him about a min, if that to eat the second one. :eek: He's such a little piggy. LOL.
