okay, so how do you measure your snake? I measured him when i first got him, but it is just impossible to get him to stay still long enough and stretched out to get an accurate measurement...

I've seen the vet try and use string to measure, but the pic and software thing is WAY easier.

Amy that software program works WONDERS! Just take your snake, set him down and put a ruler next to him and snap a picture. You set your unit of length (one inch) and then click from head to tail and it will give you a pretty accurate measure.

If taking a picture, putting it on your computer and yada yada yada is too much, then try a peice of yarn

I also highly recommend the software program. But just to throw another idea out there - If you set the snake on the floor next to a wall, you can usually get him to crawl along the wall, which will get him straightened out. Then measure the distance from head to tail. Not terribly accurate, but a good estimation. I just now "measured" my bull snake. He was stretched out along the long edge of his enclosure, with his head turned down one side, and his tail down the other. He's pretty close to 4 feet. The computer program would get it a lot closer though!

I also agree, the program is GREAT. Also, in the download section there is a set of record sheets. The download has one sheet to keep up with feedings (what size, the date, and if it was refused or not) and the other keeps up with size (it has month listed, you put in length, girth, and weight) One of the sheets, (i think the feeding one) also has a shed section on it. I forget exactly how its worded, but has two columns. I use one for the first day i notice my snake going blue and the second for when the shed is finished.
