introducted f/t and dexter's now a fussy eater :(

dexter is a year old... doing great. always eating soooo well. snatching the mice up so fast i went to two mice a week with him. well, then i tried switching him over to f/t - ever since i did that... he barely eats anymore.

i've gone back to live... and now instead of a nice quick feeding response he can take over 30 minutes to take down the mouse. (yes i've cut him back to only one mouse a week).

i'm wondering if i should change to once every two weeks now?

okay so it has been mentioned to me that perhaps this feeding of f/t coincided with 'teen angst'.

adam... will give me some more info regarding this?

He could very well just be at that age where is "baby metabolism" is changing to "adult metabolism" ... I would cut back the feedings to once every 2 weeks and see if that helps.

Make sure he's warm and is getting 12-14 hours of light a day ... it's that time of year and he's at that age where he might be thinking more about the ladies than food.

I wouldn't think that F/T has anything to do with it.

oh okay... it's funny... you think you 'know' your snake and then a new stage comes and you are finding yourself not knowing anything LOL

i'm so glad i have this forum to assist me during my 'not knowing' phases LOL

i'll also make sure the light in the living room nearest his enclosure is on in the evening for a bit as it starts to get dark sooner. he gets natural light from the window and the fish tank beside his enclosure daily... so it's just the evening light i need to provide for him. thanks for that info!

I would agree with adam. Dont be too quick to blame F/T

I might think its time to switch to 2 weeks as well. Good Luck
