    Feeding Question

For only the first few years or so, whenever I fed Tilly (currently 5 years old) a f/t rat (which he always eats), he constricted it. Now for the past few years, after I put the f/t rat in the tank, Tilly comes cruising out a few minutes later, inspects the rat for a few more minutes, and then starts to eat it, WITHOUT constricting it. My predicament is whether that is "ok?" Does it really matter whether he constricts or not, because I guess he knows by know that he doesn't need to waste energy contricting the rat, he can just eat it. But is there anything to be worried about? Should I start to waggle the rat in front of him to get him to constrict it? But then again is there a point, cause he will eat it anyway, without constricting?

There is nothing wrong with this. It is very common in fact. Thumbs up to you for feeding F/T.

    Re: Feeding Question

If you thaw it out too much, personally I'd worry about the rat biting back, that's why I always keep mine a bit on the icy side. Cryogenics usually tend to anger most feeder rats, no respect for science. I'd say you should manually wrap the snake around the rat to instill good eating habits. Just my two cents.

jk. had too much caffiene and maybe i made some peoples days a little better or just got a few shakes of the head and a sigh.
