    Shipping snakes UPS...

Okay so this Wednesday my new little snake will be shipped off and on his way to my house. This is the first snake I'll have shipped to me so I'm still a bit worried and not to sure how it's going to go.... The breeder said he will be shipping him UPS and that he will be here on Thursday by 10:30am because he will be set on "early AM drop off delivery". Has anyone had to wait all day long for their critter to get to them or has the drop off time been way off? I didn't even know UPS shipped live animals....

    Yup, it's not even Wednesday/Thursday and I'm a mess!!!

When i ship snakes i have them delivered by 10:30 am next day.All but one shipment in two years of shipping has had a problem.I am not sure how UPS has there delivery stuff, but with fedex the drivers are penilized if a delivery is late.In other words if it says by 10:30 am that driver had better get it their. Some of the older people who have been shipping for years used UPS before they changed there rules. So they are considered Grandfather claused into the allowing them to still ship thru UPS.Once you get the package tracking numbers you can go online and moniter the progress of the package.Keep us posted and we need to see pics of your new addition

Are you one of these "older" people?

I'm sure your little guy will be fine. Just make sure you keep track of him online. I don't want to worry you, but I had my blood shipped to VA beach by mistake, and that UPS building was closed. I had to bribe someone to stay late while I drove 3 1/2 hours to get there.

I will only ship M-W, that way if something like that happens, the snake has no chance of spending the weekend in a box with a possible bad outcome.

Ok ok...I am sure you did. Let me rephrase. I would never ship a snake on a day other than M-W. I would just wait it out for the right temps. Even with a Saturday delivery, you still risk the delivery being missed and the snake getting stuck in the box for an extra day.
