    Guitar Hero!!

Anybody else play this? My hand is sore from just finishing the Bark at the Moon on Hard. That guitar solo is brutal.

For those who don't know what Guitar Hero is... It's a game on the PS2. Here's what it looks like.

If you have a PS2 and like rock music. GET THIS GAME!!! It's only like $60-$70

    Re: Guitar Hero!!

HA! I picked up a real guitar for the first time a few months ago. I've got a few easy songs down...well riffs, mostly (iron man, smoke on the water, a few S.O.A.D., some slipknot, korn...that kinda stuff)

hahaha smoke on the water was like one of the first i learnt

first solo i ever learnt was Fade to black

slipknot and korn would be tough for beginner guitarists id think.. with all their bizarre tunings

Korn is in A tuning, and Slipknot is in drop A tuning. It's easy stuff actually. Try playing some Nile, Necrophagist or Dragon Force.

for a person that just picked up a guitar, changing tunings can be pretty confusing

and dragon force arent exactly difficult to play some necrophagist are, and COB

personally I have a soft spot for nightwish and iron maiden

Dragon Force solos, to keep up with the speed is the tough part. Most shredding sorta solos aren't long, but DF's solos go on for 3-4 minutes. Great stamina excersizes. Nightwish is a great band. And Maiden rules all.

while 3-4 minute solos can sometime sbe impressive, most of theirs are tapping or hammerons/pull offs with an occasional sweep

i can tap my foot for a couple of minutes, but it doesnt make me a member of riverdance

plus - i also think that there comes a point where it is too much solo

    what other music you like?

Hammer-on's and pull-offs are always great for workin the fingers though. Some people can't really do them for very long, let alone keep it in rhythm. I'm 99% metal. No nu-metal for me though. I'm most into death, black, thrash and grindcore.
