    venomous cresties!?

so last nite i was handling my most naught cresty when he lept from hand and latched onto my upper lip! surprising to say the least, but what was even more surprising was the the way the affected area of my lip turned red and swollen for the next couple hours. i dabbed it with alcohol after it started itching (maybe 10 min after it happend) and when i went to the bathroom to get it i looked in the mirror with absolute confusion.

dont get me wrong, this was not major swelling or redness in any way, but it sure irritated my skin somehow.

    Re: venomous cresties!?

venomous--no. the mouth and lips are sensitive and it doesn't really take much to get a little swelling in that area. i would image those little teeth clamping down on your lip would irritate it quite a bit. the itching could have been caused by the irritation, or maybe even from some of the geckos saliva getting into the pricks made by the teeth. you did the right thing by cleaning it with alcohol--you could probably also rinse with listerine or something similar.

how does it look now? has the swelling gone down and/or is it still itching? you could have even had a slight allergic reaction just to the saliva getting into your lip or something...

    Hahaha thats adorable....i'm strange

They aren't venemous at all, but as mentioned before, you should rinse out with some listerine. I'm sure it'll be fine

oh yeah, everythings totally fine. i just thought it was cute... i dont know why he would leap a good 8" to bite my lip, but hey, i'd rather him do that than one of my coastals or even one of the hognoses!
