Re: Rats can eat scrambled eggs???

Are you joking? Rats can eat almost anything. I think there might be a couple things they shouldn't have. I feed mine all sorts of scraps, and they like eggs, bread, pasta(cooked pasta!!!!), vegetables, crackers, you name it. I've found very few things they don't like. Given in moderation of course, feeding them nothing but potatoes won't be good for them obviously.
The other day I gave them stale powdered sugar donuts. They liked those too.
I love to offer them neat things to keep them happy. Dried fruit is good too, but I think the big thing with mine so far is cooker pasta. Whatever is on sale, buy it, cook it, little olive oil on it, and store it int he fridge. Give them some, you will be amazed.

Re: Rats can eat scrambled eggs???

Rats can basically eat anything human beings can eat. They can even eat chocolate. They shouldn't be given too much citrus fruits though. Feeding them your leftover kitchen scraps is an excellent way to suppliment their dry food and use up your own food that would otherwise get tossed in the garbage. Just remember though as Wolfy said to not go too far...a fat rat isn't a good breeder. You want them well fleshed and healthy but not obese.

Not really. Gerbils only stick to nuts, grains, seeds, fruits/veggies, and whatever else is in their dry food.

rats can eat anything.....if you think about it, the rats in NY eat anything in the garbage.....ANYTHING. In Fact, billions are spent each year to improve rat poisons because the effects wear off so quickly!!!

Yep, I swear our rat colony goes into wild rat glee whenever I do my southern deep fried spicey chicken wings. It's chicken bones for all! LOL I keep a big bucket/bowl in the bottom of the fridge and just drop leftovers in there....yummy snacks for rats (had to mark it RAT FOOD though since roving teenagers might decide that the leftover spaghetti looks pretty dang good! LOL)
