    Search Filters

One of our new users asked the same "can I house bp's in the same cage?" question and off to the Search bar I went.

I typed in "same enclosure" and to my suprise, the word "Same" is filtered out because it's a "common word". That pretty much destroyed my results and I did not get the results I was looking for.

When a newbie comes around here and uses the search button, and is curious about housing in the same enclosure, they will most likely search "same housing", "same enclosure", or "same cage" and because of the filter, the only results that will come up are housing, enclosure, and cage. not very precise, and I think the question will continue to come up due to poor search results.

I agree. Alot of my searches were messed up too because either my word was too short, or too common??

    Re: Search Filters

One more thing, generally when I search and don't find the result i'm looking for on the first page, I assume the topic has never been brought up. So if you search, and then don't see that the word has been filtered, and then scroll through all of the threads...not one would mention "same" unless it was a very recent thread. That would make me think the topic has never been brought up, so I'd start a new thread...and it'd be the same ol' same ol'

    Re: Search Filters

Thanks for bringing this up, Nate. We're currently looking for ways to improve the search engine, and we'll keep that "common word" issue in mind.
