shedding problems
My snake started its' shed about a week ago and as some of you know, I had problems with my humidity(that darn infrared). Well I put it in the new tank and humidity was perfect, it stayed in the 53-57% range and I misted to get it above 60 during the shed. Well I guess I didn't put it in the new tank soon enough bc I came home a few days ago and noticed some skin laying around the tank. Not too big, but not tiny either. Probably about the side of a half dollar coin or so. Well I read on here last night to soak the snake in lukewarm water for 10 minutes then let it slither through a wash cloth. I did this a few times and it didn't get much off, rather loosened it up. So I started to slowly peel the skin off myself. I countinued to do this only because it was loose enough to and the snake did not move or anything to show discomfort. Is this something I was okay doing, or should I have let it do it by itself?

Re: shedding problems
I'd soak again for an hour (ten minutes probably just wasn't long enough), and try it again.

Re: shedding problems
I think you are OK helping, but it may be easier after the snake soaks. Sometimes a couple of soaking sessions over a couple of days makes a world of difference, and the snake can ususally get the rest off themselves.
Watching your cage humidty should really help with future sheds, we very rarely have anything but one piece sheds after following the advice on this site ....
