    Baby Cresties Foot Issue

My cresties, produced two eggs that hatched in June. Anyway, I'm having an issue with one of them. It's been fine and I've been taking care of both of them the same, but recently I looked at it's toes and two/three of them seem to be connected on each foot (liked fused toes/webbed). I first noticed it on the back feet, and now the front feet.

The baby has been shedding fine, since that was my first thought. Now I just don't know what could be happening. Any help, advice, or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm just getting a little worried.

If he seems fine, then I'd just leave it. As long as he's eating, jumping, shedding, growing and pooping fine then there should be nothing to worry about

do you know for sure if this is something that has happened over time or if it was born that way? sometimes cresteds are born with slight genetic defects which could possibly be what this is.

has it had any injury to its feet/toes? i once had a juvie that got bit on the toes by a cage mate--two of its toes tried to fuse together as they healed and i had to take great care to separate the toes to make sure they didn't heal together. that doesn't sound too likely in your case though since this is happening on on more than one foot--unless there has been some kind of major shedding problem, which doesn't sound like the case either.

any chance you could get some pics? that might help determine exactly what is going on.

    Re: Baby Cresties Foot Issue

Good news! The feet are ok. He/she (baby) was just bunched up a lot lately apparently or something, but I had him/her out and he/she was bouncing around and the feet were spread and fine. I also was looking at the parents enclosure and there are two more eggs...hmmm.

good to hear! i did notice one time with a recent hatchling that a few of its toes seemed stuck together -- i had just misted its enclosure and i think they were just sticking a little because they were wet.

and congrats on the new eggs. hope they hatch out more nice babies for you!
