New Cage pics (renovated)
I changed things around a lot; completely scrapped the aspen and cypress that NEVER allow you to have a fully clean cage; and went with newspaper and a paper towel topper to make it more attractive Scrubbed Bela and LaVey's cages out really good and here's how they are now...
Bela; I transferred her to LaVey's old cage, as she's a girl and outgrowing him:
And LaVey in his new digs... Ginger's cage I haven't done yet, as I am overheated and need a rest!

Personally, I never said that cypress/aspen would "NEVER allow you to have a fully clean cage" ... if you're changing out all of the aspen and/or cypress everytime the cage is soiled and washing the cage out like you described in the other thread, it's really not a problem.
On a seperate note ... be careful with those cardboard hides ... if you're throwing them out and replacing them often, they're not a problem, but they are havens for mold and bacteria (especially if they get wet) and if not replaced frequently could cause problems with your animals.

Re: New Cage pics (renovated)
They are disposable hides; I got a nice long box to make them out of. The second anything liquid (or in a fecal case, solid) touches them, they'll be in the firepit and replaced. Once I get to Wally World, I plan on buying more of the red hide you see in LaVey's cage; I love it as a hide.
It was just getting irritating, you know, changing the mulch over and over (not to mention expensive.) I like this setup much better; I was just basically venting about "never" being able to fully clean.. I am too busy to keep doing that, ya know?
