Silly rack question..
Most racks I see, really seem to have no room below the r-maids for flexwatt. Is it common practice to put the heating element along the back wall? If so; what about the lack of belly heat? Just wondering..

Re: Silly rack question..
I dont know the pros and cons of putting the heat element on the back Some do use back heat but flexwatt is so thin you dont need alot of room between the rack and flexwatt. If your planing on building a rack you could always leave a little extra room and keep the lids on the tubs.

Re: Silly rack question..
In my racks, there is a space that has been recessed and that is where the flexwatt goes. :sweet:

Re: Silly rack question..
I use belly heat in my racks.. Some like the back heat. I just felt like there was better control with the belly heat.
Dont worry if your tubs slightly touch the flex watt. IF you have a thermostat they are not constantly on. Also the sterlite tubs that i use have a recessed part underneath, and that is where i postition my flex watt...
hope this helps

Re: Silly rack question..
I've got a couple iris 900 racks with flexwatt belly heat. The rack, made by AP, was not originally intended for flexwatt, but the tubs actually have plastic "feet" (is that what they're called?) that give just enough space for the tub to clear the heat tape which is foil-taped to the bottom rear of each space.
Good job Mr. Glass....works great!
