But - do you really need a humidifier for your snake's area? Isn't it making the humidity too high?

    Re: Avoiding bites

Since he is using the cage humidifier than I would think it's safe to say their humidity is low.
I used one for over a year when I kept my bp in a glass tank. Kept it a nice even 55%. Had it running along the back wall of the tank.

Sometimes if you take your bp out on a regular basis and just let him get use to you then they will stop the hissing and biting one they realize your not a threat. But you may incounter a bite or two along the way

Actually it's currently keeping it at 52%. Misting twice a day bumps it up to 55-58%.

Oh, right - I have learned something here. I've never heard of a cage humidifier (maybe we don't have them here in the UK). I was thinking ordinary kind of humidifers generating a lot of dampness. It actually sounds like a pretty good think especially to help with shedding.

Isn't it pretty humid in the UK? Would you have a need for one?

( I could be totally wrong, and I am sorry. I am just curious!)

Oh that's OK - it's not too bad here - I tend to spray inside a few times a day when needed and check the humidity.

Funny thing was all the kids were in the room and I brought them all over and showed them why we wash our hands after touching rats/mice before handling the snakes (as my girlfriend is standing there bleeding and being on display at the same time.) Now I have no problems with hand washing!
