He is certainly isnt shy !
Well last night I lifted Deebo's lid, reached my hand in to get his water bowel and by the time I had got it out....He had sneakilly managed to whizz to the top of the tub & work his way out !
I have only had him since saturday & he is so keen to get out! Is there a reason for this ? or have I just got a not so shy Royal !!?? He just doesnt look shy or scared at all..He is still a baby at 4 month s old..
He also spends allot of his time slouched out side of his hides...
I really need to drill more holes in his tub to take the humidity down as this is at 70 at the moment..would this have anything to do with it ?
thank you thank you !

Re: He is certainly isnt shy !
Sounds pretty normal behavior for a new addition. It takes them a good week or so to really settle into "normal" ball python behavior.
I remember when I first got Kashmire, I had posted something similar that he must not be stressed, because he'd come and climb onto my hand if I was changing the water and was always out and about. I was told at that time, that it doesn't necessarily mean that they are relaxed - but are still getting used to their surroundings and still looking for weaknesses in the enclosure for possible escape.
I'd say by next month he'll be fully settled in and acting like any other ball python!
Sounds like you're having fun with the little guy! Did you ever decide on a name for him?

I decided on Deebo...it will suit him more when he is bigger !

Sounds like perfectly normal behaviour. We do have one female, Kyna, that to this day will try to come out pretty much anytime you open her tub but then she was a pet snake before we got her and has always been handled quite a bit so that may explain it. Glad Deboo is doing well for you and you're enjoying him.

Re: He is certainly isnt shy !
Lisa, the only thing that I can think of that may make him try this, is the temps being too high. I know that you are monitoring them with a thermometer, but your thermo may be bad. If you can, I would suggest getting some other thermometer just to double check your primary to make sure it is reading accurately. If it is not, your snake may be trying to escape the heat. Another good sign of this would be that Deebo might spend alot of time in his water bowl. Just a thought.
