    Exclamation Help! She escaped!

Hi. last night, my snake got away! She is still very tiny and have no idea where to begin to look. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would aprreciate it so much.

    Thanks,
    Jessica

donr worry, your not the first to go through this. most likely she is in the nearest, warmest place she could find that would also give her cover. good luck.

If you have a couple normal heatpads place one on the floor on both sides of the doorway to the room they were in. Toss some clean crumpled up towels onto the heatpads. Get up at various times of the night and check the towels for your snake. It works quite well. The snake will likely follow along the wall, crawl in behind and up under stuff, but when it finds it's way to the doorway and find the warm towels, it will crawl into the mass of towels and you will find it. It's a good idea to leave a source of water down for the snake too.

Keep in mind, if you have cats or dogs you may want to put them in a room or area where they can't find your snake while you sleep.

To put your mind to ease, as long as your have no holes in the walls or vents that lead directly from the inside to the outside, most lost snakes in a home are found in the first few weeks... sometimes as long as 6 months later.

    In addition:

1)Leave water for her to drink all over the house.
    2)Turn down airconditioner.
    3)Search at night.
4)They usually don't wonder off too far from their hides.
5)Leave plastic bags on the floor along the walls, so you would hear them rustle if she slithers on top of them.
6)Make sure there are no open doors or windows nearby.
7)Leave a line of flour on your door ways, so you would know if she crossed from one room to the other.

    Good luck.

One more bit of advice that has proven helpful to others in the past:

If you're looking for your snake and you dismiss an opening or a crack as "way too small" for it to get into or through...CHECK there! They can squeeze themselves into the most amazingly tight places, and will usually happily do so.

Definitely - I've had 2 snakes disappear into the deepest recesses of the settee - like in the back down that teensy weensy little crack. I've also heard of them going into closets and curling up in trainers.

    Hope you find her soon.
