How active should he be?

Yesterday I put Giovanni (hasn't been sexed yet, making an executive decision and deciding he's a boy until proven otherwise, have a 50% chance of being right) in his new setup, and after a few minutes of being a ball, he uncurled and spent hours and hours exploring. He tested the new lid (yay for latches!) burrowed through the substrate, investigated the bowl, basked on the tree, and curled up in each hide.

Is this much activity normal? Or is this just Gio making himself at home?

Seems pretty normal bp behavior to me. Give it some time to get accustomed to the new environment and it should settle down granted that proper husbandry requirements are met.

He/She is just checking out it's new home. It will settle down soon. Like Raj said, if the temps are right you should have no problems, but sometimes they can be looking for a way out if the enclosure is too warm.
