New Mouse Babies

OK, we have a couple of mice that we used to tempt Anita ... that did not work, so we put them back in a small cage together. We noticed one growing very large, so we separated them last night. Surprise!!! She had babies this morning.


What now????? The mother does not seem to be taking care of them, she is in another part of the cage. Is this common for first time (assumption) mothers, and can we do anything to help?????

Its fairly common in mice. Probbaly has to do with being seperated from the male and/or housing change. Mice seem to get stressed fairly easy and use any excuse to abandon or eat their babies.


Id take the babies and freeze them. If you dont have a use for them someone near you may.
