Mouse eating
I have two females that feed on mice. I have been breeding rats for the rest of my snakes. Now my ? how can I get the two too feed on rats. The rats are live. Should I just wait them out and keep trying to feed rats. One is around 400 grams and the other is around 1400.

Re: Mouse eating
give it a whirl!!!
our male eats adult mice.
we feed weanling baby rats and he doesnt seem to mind.
they are lest aggressive and jumpy than the mice.
one thing i have noticed...mice smell more than rats and are more likely to jump out of your hands and act all nutty.
good luck!

Re: Mouse eating
Try using a rat that is the same size as the mouse...and scent it with bedding from a mice cage. (I'm sure the pet store can give you a little bag of used bedding if you don't have any live mice of your own.)

Most of the time all you need to do is drop the mouse bedding into the corner of the snakes cage about 10 minutes before you put the rat in ... In my experience it's easier and has a higher success rate than actually scenting the rat itself.
Hope this helps.

Great tip, Adam. I have one that I was going to scent tonight and I'll give it a try. I'm sure it will be much easier on the rat, too. He won't have to sit in a paper bag waiting for his doom.
