Question Very confused.... BP question **Lots of photos

This is my Female Ball Python Lady. I rescued her about 6 months ago form a neglectful owner. Now I was told she was 4 years old by the owner, and told younger by his son and his nephew. She is over 2 feet and is right now at 600 gr. (much better than her 194 gr. when I rescued her)

I guess my question is, dose she look like an adult? She dosen't to me and I would like a 2nd opinion. She just looks like a baby.

I also have some belly shots of her, Sorry they are not all that well taken. She has yellow flecks all over her belly along with some nice gray blotches. From the tip of her nose , down about 6 to 8 inches she has bright white belly scales, then the yellow and gray start.

Feel free to ask me questions.

nice body shot, but I couldnt get her to come out of the log.

    Head shot.. 1 of many.

I like the nice blue glow she puts off right after she sheds...she keeps that for about 2 weeks then she dulls down.

Belly Shot 1, you can see the Yellow flecks nicely here.

And here is a longer shot, you can't see the yellow but still cool looking in my book!
***don't worry I have her fully suported, she is wraped around my calf. (which is proped up by my chair)

Baby (right) Making shure his girl is doing all right... He is very protective of her. (but see the difference, her being quote "4 years old" and him being a little over 2 years...He looks more like an adult than her)

She looks so much like a baby in this photos and you can see the scars from the rat she was living with befor I got her.... trust me her head looks 100% better now

First, , it's nice to have another Georgian on the forums!

It's very hard to guess ages on ball pythons. It could be that she was not well cared for and was not fed properly and now has to catch up.

Question though - are you housing her with your male? It's not advisable to house ball pythons together, they should have their own enclosures. Besides being able to pass illnesses to each other, I'd be really concerned that he would mate with her, and she would not survive the pregnancy as small as she is.

There are a lot of other reasons NOT to house them together, and really no good reason to house them together.

In any case, it looks like she's done well in your care. Now, if they are housed together, you just need to work on separating them, and I'm sure she'll thrive even more!

    Welcome to the forums! :

Very nice looking bp's ya got there! I wouldn't worry too much about her age. I'd just get her into her own home...make sure it's perfect so that she's eating well...and watch her grow. If knowing a proper "age" is really important to you, then just start counting from the day you got her...cause that's when life started really getting good for her.

If you are concerned about her being "stunted" in any way from the lack of feeding so far here, read this. I obtained a female ball on trade about 6 months ago, the people still had their original receipt from when they bought it in '04. She weighed barely 600 grams.

She's a pig, and with 1 small rat per week and 6 months later, she just broke 1100 grams and shows no signs of slowing down.

They were in different cages untill I moved here ... thanks to the military I only have one cage .. I did have 5. 4 broke. (I just moved here last month and I just got all of my stuff last week.) The movers packed my cages wrong and they all broke... My husband is building me a cage as we speak actualy. So they havent been togeather very long. they really have taken to each other in that short amount of time. As for sickness They are fine vet check came back normal... as for breeding? well I actualy dont know if SHE really is a SHE Getting fecal samples checked is one thing but have my female sexed is another. there is not vet here that I know of yet that works with reptiles. I have to wait for the reptile show to come to Atlanta in October So I can meet up with my Male's breeder to get her sexed.

    Hehe...that's awesome!

As for the military breaking the cages...man, that sucks. As a veteran of many military moves, and many more yet to go...I feel for your pain! In the meantime, if the new custom-built cage is gonna take awhile, you could consider buying a rubbermaid/sterelite type tub to house her in. They're very cheap, and very easy to set up...and make excellent homes for BP's.

    You're welcome!
So...the new cage being built...is divided up into three different sections? Sounds nice! How do you plan on heating it?
