Hurray!!
Hello everyone! I dont know if any one remembers but awhile back i was planning on gettings some balls (pythons) but had to get everthing setup first. Well I held off for abit for money and recently I was in a bad....bad motorcycle accident, im typeing from a wheelchair as we speak cast`s and all.So with nothing but time I got some new tanks.. thermostats, flexwatt the works and have made the leap.. I got a new baby ball a few days ago!!! I think it will be veary helpfull in me getting back on my feet and not so depressed as ive been in a hosptial for two months now.... Its nice to be able to peek over and see such a innocent face and think about life in general, the light at the end of the tunnel. Anyways I had a few questions.... its been two days since I put him/her in the cage and he idmediately roamed around scopeing out the new scene.Even now though he seems like hes trying to climb up the glass walls.. does he not like it in there or am I right when I say their just curious animals , especially when their in a new enviroment? I havent touched him as I know about the week acclimation period. Another thing that I was wondering.... he dosent use his hids, he balls up in a corner, stretches out on top of his tree or flat out across the middle of the tank. Is this a sign of concern or maybe hes just comfortable with his surroundings? Thanks for everything guys, I really appreciate it all and hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards
Ryan

Re: Hurray!!
Welcome to the site!
They can be curious animals....and most likely he is looking for a way out with the frequent roaming What are your temperatures inside the enclosure? What kind of hides are you using and where are they located? Ball pythons love hides where they can touch all sides when curled inside...the snugger...the more they like it.
All you can really do is provide the proper tempertures and environment and the snake will take of the rest.

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your accident - yeouch. =P
But that cute little face in your tank should! As Daniel said, yup they like to check out their surroundings, see if there are any escape routes.

Re: Hurray!!
The temp on the warm side is 90-92 F cool side 79-83 F at the hottest point in the day it gets to 95 F on the hot spot because its summer here in cali... thank god for thermostats. As for the hides theres one over the flexwatt and one in a corner of the cool side with , ones a clay pot type deal with a hole dremeled and smoothed in the top, the others a half log with a tree in the middle of the cage and plenty of fake plants for added secure feeling.

Ohhh and as for the humidity its 45% -58 %, sure is nice haveing two accu-rites that record highs and low`s as well as humidity.

Re: Hurray!!
Oh wow...so sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you have a fully and speedy recovery!
As for the snake...it may have just not really discovered the hides yet, or not "claimed" them. When I got Kisasa, she spent the first three days or so curled up in the corner of her cage, even though she'd explored every inch and must have known the hides were there. Maybe it just takes them a little time to come to trust that some other animal hasn't already laid claim to that nice little cave! LOL Now she roams between all three of her hides quite freely and we rarely see her outside of them.
