    Swallowing alive...

I just got a RTB (about a week old)...had his first feeding and he didn't kill the fuzzy and just swallowed it alive. He did constrict it but didn't kill it. Should I be concerned? Will the fuzzy hurt my boa if it's still wiggling around while being swallowed? Or should I just switch to F/T or pre-killed?

Of course, this isn't complete until pics are posted.

    Re: Swallowing alive...

Its fine, most species of snakes I've seen just kinda know when they can just gobble it up versus kill and then eat it. Its not at all unusual for baby snakes eating baby rodents to swallow them live.

You don't need to switch to f/t or p/k if you don't want to. If you continue to feed live, you're snake will just know when its time kill it themselves.
