Themerature gradients

I am getting a 20 gallon long ready for my first ball python. I have been working on the heat for about 2 days now. Is this acceptable: cold area: about 72%, warm area about 82%, and hot area about 93%. I have an inexpensive thermostat in the cage now since I can't afford a couple of good ones until next month. Will these temperatures be good enough.

Are we talking temperatures or humidity? If those numbers are in degrees, not percentages. 72 is WAAAYYY too cold. Nothing below 80. EVER. The hot area is perfect at 93.

Do you have a thermometer (not a thermostat) in the cage. (something that measures temperature and humidity?) A thermostat controls the heating device, and should not be in the cage. It the the thermometer digital?

Great job, getting your cage ready prior to getting your snake. That's awesome.

I have 3 digital thermometers in there with probes. That's how I am getting the temperatures. I also have a digital withhygrometer. The humidity is about 70%. I have a board over most of the cage blocking the screen. Most of the cage, about 80% is between 85-95%. The area on the far end is cooler. I guess I will put my smallest uth on that end and see if it brings it up to an acceptable level. I was thinking that from right to left 75% - 85% - 95% would be a good gradient for him

Tigerlilly, where are you located in TN. I am in Mt. Juliet.

The only gradient needs to be from 82 cool side to 92 hot side. Nothing below 80, except during breeding. If you have temps below 80 degrees then you risk an upper respiratory infection. I keep mine at 83 cool and 93 hot.
