Our baby Cleo in her luxury hotel =)
Okay, time to play, Where in the World is Cleo?!

In her hide, of course!

The cage is a 20 long with aspen. We bought some extra silk plants and florist foam from the craft store and I arranged a "forest" to put behind the tank, which I think looks purty cool. The plexiglass top we had custom cut to help with humidity, on a recommendation from a local reptile shop owner (So Cal is sooo dry =P).

We repositioned the heat emitter lamp from being directly over the warm side (where the half log hide is) to over center and the water dish, so humidity at the moment is hovering around 60%.

Et voila! A pissed off snake! ("Dammit Daddy! I was sleeping!")

Since we annoyed her enough today with just these pictures, out-of-cage pictures will have to be another time ("Like how about next year," scowls the crabby Cleo).

But isn't she cute?!

Nice setup.....good thing the humidity it good, but now it looks like there's not much of a thermal gradient....

We have a UTH centered under the warm side hide with the rheostat theromstat nestled in the substrate at one end of the warm side hide, set to 92 (controlling both the warm side UTH and heat emitter). Ambient air temperature is roughly 80, surface substrate temp in the warm hide is about 90 (via IR temp gun), low 70's on the cool side.
We have another UTH on the cool side, but we haven't purchased another rheostat to control the belly temp over there so it's not turned on, as it seems like our temps are okay. But please, we'd love to hear any advice you more experienced folks have for us!

Low 70's is a bit cool for a cool side
should be around 80 at the very least.
Great looking set up and a little cutie in there.

Oh, I see I am listed as a pet now... lucky me I guess...
Cass got some of the information above wrong... but pretty close.
Heating to the viv is supplied by a UHT on the warm side (right) and a ceramic heater above center. Thermostat probe (controling both) is located just under the surface of the aspen just outside the warm hide. Thermostat is set to 92F (Alife control module).
Using my temp gun I get readings of 90-93F belly temp on the warm side, 79-83F on the coolside. Ambient air temp fluctuates a bit with the room temp, but generally sits around 77F +/- 3 or 4F.
Humidity is sitting around 55-58% usually - still working on getting a steady 60% in there.

I'm in charge of getting the enviroment right in regards to temps and humidity, Cass in is charge of aesthetics and mouse killin', and we both share equal responcibility in going "Awwwww....!" when Cleo comes out of a hide and yawns.

Yeah, I'm terrible with electrical things and LCD readouts...pretty flowers and whamping mice against concrete are definitely more my forte. =)

LOL Rick, sounds a bit like my husband Mike and I!
Lovely enclosure and the snake looks gorgeous. I see some submissions to the BPOM contest in your future!

Temps in the low 70's is asking for a respitory infection (RI). Even if they have a warmer place to go, sometimes they are just not keen enough to move themselves and problems can occur. Don't pull your hair out messing with your current configuration, just run a space heater in that area of the room until the winter is over and your temps go back up. If you are noticing low 70s during the day, I bet you are touching 60s at night- and that is a MAJOR problem. Hope that helps.
