    Freakin Nightmare....

I was dropping in a live rat to see if I could get Sif to eat tonight......and it slipped.....right on the floor and under the rack.....so I spent about 1 hour chasing a rat in the 82 deg. snake closet.....finally caught it....but in the process bumped the rack pretty hard.....everyone's freshly filled water bowls spilt completely flooding the enclosures....I had to clean out everyone because it was so wet....they had all just eatten too (even the new guy)....so now I fear I have a bunch of stressed out snakes....JUST PRAY FOR NO REGURGES...

It is now 12:30....no work that I was planning to do tonight got done....

    ....I am going to bed

wow, that sounds like something that would happen to me. i bet the snakes will all be fine though--it's not like you handled them excessively or anything while getting their enclosures cleaned out. i'll cross my fingers for them though.

Oh I'm so sorry Daniel. I have had those moments too. (they suck!!) I'm a big walking klutz, so it happens more than I'd like to admit. I'm sure you were such a happy camper by bedtime. I bet you weren't sorry to see that rat go for dinner!

    Re: Freakin Nightmare....

once upon a time my husband (then boyfriend) lived in an apartment with 2 other guys. maintenance came around and put glue traps in the utility closets because of some complaints from residents that there were mice in the walls. the next day there was, in fact, a mouse stuck to the trap, squeaking and unhappy. now imagine 3 macho guys pondering this, trying to figure out what to do with the stuck, still live mouse. the best thing they could come up with was to run over the mouse with the jeep that belonged to one of them (brilliant, i know), because no one wanted to dispose of it while it was still alive and struggling. so they proceeded to do this and once the deed was done they tossed the remains in the dumpster. the next day they came home from work to find the neighbor's cat in their yard...glue trap plastered to its face. glue traps are not easy to remove from angry long-haired cats faces. so people, don't use the glue traps if you, or anyone close by has a cat.

    Re: Freakin Nightmare....

LOL ... first time I put out glue traps behind my racks, I had to go back to adjust something a day or two later and stepped on one ... that $ucked.

I used to keep the glue traps out all the time until I was showing a friend around the shop one day and they asked what would happen if a snake escaped and crawled onto the glue trap? ... Well, at least it would be easy to find.

They ran it over with a JEEP?!?! Sometimes you just have to question the logic of men. Oh lordy, can you imagine watching them do it. LOL!

And that poor cat! Oh my. I can even imagine trying to get that off. That had to be a fun job.

    Re: Freakin Nightmare....

The other problem with glue traps is that occasionally a mouse will only get one leg stuck. In that case you are likely to find nothing but a leg on the trap and have a 3 legged mouse running around........
