Humidity

I had my rack setup for a few days to get the temps and humidity right and it was in a cooler room so the temps were a little low but the humdity has been perfect since I set it up, but today I moved it into the herp room where it is hotter and I put the snakes in it but the humidity reading says HI% . I misted the newspaper so it would stick on the bottom and I have it setup like it was in the cooler room. Will the humidity go down when the newspaper dries out. Its been perfect and then I misted to newspaper and put it into a hotter room, so I think it could be the newspaper. Will the humidity be a problem for the snakes until it goes back to normal?

im thinking about switching the substrate to aspen, would that help bring down the humidity?

The humidity will go down once the newspaper dries out, the Hi indicator may just be like that because some actual water got into the sensor, mine does that though when ever DD somehow manages to tip over the very heavy water dish in his viv.

Warmer air holds humidity better than cooler air ... so setting a rack up and dialing in the humidity in a cooler room and then moving the rack into a warmer room isn't too good of an idea.

You may have to make adjustments once again now that you've moved the rack.

ok, I got worried when the thermometer said HI. I think im still going to switch to aspen. Im thinking about switching the water dish also, I saw on Adams site in one of the snakes pics he uses the deli cup with the pvc pipe union, has anyone had experience with it?

The temps are perfect now but the humidity is whats got me worried, I put some more holes in it when it was in the other room and the humidity went down, also in the herp room I turned the fan off for a while and I could feel the humidity in there since I turned the fan back on it seem like its gotten better.

I like them better than ceramic dishes because it saves me from having to soak 250+ water bowls a week in bleach to disinfect them. With the deli cups, a clean, germ free water bowl is always ready to go. Also, the PVC couplers have no bottom and are less prone to mold growth than ceramics.

I've been using them for 5 years and have never had a single one tipped over by the snakes.

ok im definatly going with them, mine seem to tip over anything I use for water, what is the size for the ones you use?
