Need some advice from Melamine cage users.

I have just completed a beautiful home made cage for my BP(4'Wx2'Dx15"H) and am now at a point where I need to think about how I'm going to heat the hot spot. I was thinking of going from underneath with flexwatt or UTH but was wondering if the Melamine would be too think to actually get enough heat up into the hide. I have also thought of making a heat box and place it right in the cage, the only thing I don't like about this idea is I'd have to cut a small hole for the cord to get threw and that idea just makes me roll my eyes.

So my question to those who have already battled with this is what do you use and how do you heat your Melamine cages? DO you come from underneath the cage?..or do you have the heat source inside the cage in a heat box?

What I've seen someone do on here(I think..) is cut a 1 inch strip near the bottom along the back wall so you can slip a UTH in and out. Then take some wood pieces and put them in the corners in the cage and put a piece of plexiglass or glass or whatever over the pieces so it raises up from the heat source a bit.

Alternatively you could go with radient heat panels, but I think those are still a bit costly. They work well too though.
