I have been having problems with the air temperature in the cage. I am currently using a zoo-med under tank heater. The ground temp is about 70-90 degrees, but the air temperature about 4 inches above the ground on the warm side is 70 degrees. I was thinking about getting one of those ceramic heat emitters or heat lamps or somethin' to heat up the air. Has anyone else had success in heating the air with anything of this sort? Is the air temp even a problem? Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

70-90 is a big range. What are your warm side/cool side temps? You need to have a cool side of 82-84 and a warm side of 92-94. What are you using to measure your temps? The more details you give about your setup the better everyone can help

I'm sorry, I meant 70 on the cool side and 90 on the warm side. I am using a Fluker's thermometer. It looks like a speedometer (not digital, it has a little needle in it). I would be able to raise or lower the temperatures on the warm side by the amount of bedding, but I don't know any ways to change the cool side temp w/out getting another heater. I, unfortunately, am lacking a humidistat, but I mist the walls 1-2 times a day and have a humidity box, which Olaf occasionaly stays in. I'm not sure if humidity would change anything, but if it does, there's the information.

I would recommend getting a digital thermometer/hygrometer from walmart for about $13.00.....they will give you a much more accurate temp reading. Those needle things just don't work too well.

You also need a thermostat.. A humidstat is not a common product used in the reptile hobby.. A thermostat will stop the temp flux.. Take a look here'
