Humidity & Newspaper
can anyone tell me how to keep humidity up with newspaper for bedding. i used to use reptibark and aspen, they worked fine because i could mist the bedding, but now that i switch the newspaper and its getting colder and dryer the humidity is really low i cant really mist the newspaper because it gets soaked, i cant mist the side of the cage because its a homemade wood enclosure, i tried puttong the bowl more underneath the heatlight but it didnt work that good. any suggestions?

Switch your heat lamp out for an under tank heater.
I mist my newspaper.. lightly, but it works for me.

Re: Humidity & Newspaper
I use newspaper in Sterilite containers and have no problem keeping the humidity up, even in the winter. In a wood enclosure, it's not going to be easy. Try putting a large water bowl on top of the undertank heater. Shelby's right about ditching the heat lamp - those suck humidity out of the air quicker than anything. If you're using a screen top, or if there are large screens on the sides, cover them.
There are humidifiers you can buy to put inside the enclosure, or you can make your own (I think we have the plans in our DIY section). Another thing you might want to try is putting a normal humidifier in the room that your enclosure is in.

Re: Humidity & Newspaper
Get some flexwatt from Justcage. He'll wire it up for you if you need.. put either a rheostat or a thermostat on it to control the temp. There's 11" wide flexwatt, and one bigger size..
