    Oh Happy Day!

Well, got home last night and got to see my beloved Kashmire! His skin felt a little "tacky" (not smooth and supple) and I think he may be close to a shed, but I misted him down and misted his cage some more.

Today I went to PetCo after I called them and talked to the lady who cares for the reptiles who said she did have some hoppers, because one of the mice they had, had babies. She said it was like trying to catch gerbils. I'd say that they probably weren't hoppers, but weanlings.

Since Kashmire hasn't had a "real" feed since I got him (the first feed he regurgitated two days later - parasites that we're treating are the cause).

Anyway, a week ago this past Thursday, Kaskmire got his first de-worming, and I didn't offer him food before I left for a week. Went and picked up two gray weanlings and had to wake him up, because he had actually curled around the wire of the Acu Rite, and I wanted to clear him of that.

Well, after he woke up, he seemed pretty active, so I decided to drop "Appetizer" into the enclosure with him. He knew he was there, but had to hunt him because he was on the other side of Kashmire's hide, but BAMMMMM and he nailed him! Fascinating as it was my first time witnessing his feed (his first feed was with the assistance of newspaper balls thanks to Adam, so I didn't witness that feed).

About 10 minutes later, to my untrained eye, he looked like he was still hunting, so I put the other one in ("Dinner") and he nailed that one. He started trying to feed on it sideways, so I was cheering him on going "come on baby, gotta get his head first, that's my boy!" He had to drag him into the open so he had more room to work and find the head.

What a joy to watch him eat and so readily too! My reluctant feeder was apparently ready to eat and is acclimated. Now to get rid of these darn parasites. I also think with my next paycheck, I may switch to a 20 gallon long (I have a 20 gallon tall right now) but getting Kashmire healthy is the first priority.

He's now ready for his two day nap! LOL

I wanted to feed him today, since he has his second de-worming this Thursday and I wanted to give him time to digest this meal before being handled again on Thursday.

Fingers crossed that he keeps these two down! He doesn't have a noticeable lump, but he looks much healthier to me (not so thin).

I'm so happy! Now my next "first" is first shed! Woo Hoo! Now I'm off the grocery store for food for the two leggeds in this family and for the fur babies!

Oh excellent news Robin! Good for Kashmire! Isn't it just wonderful to see them feeding aggressively!

If you are looking for a 20 galloon I think I saw another thread somehwhere on this forum about that and Matt (justcage) had some really good prices even with shipping and all that.

Thanks Jo! He's in a 20 gallon tall, but the 20 gallon longs look so much more roomy (but then again, our bp's like to feel more closed in to feel secure, so I'm not sure).

I'll have to go look for his thread though! Thanks for the tip!
