Coulda' been a Burm

But thank goodness it wasn't.
At around 5pm this evening I received a distress call from a nice gentleman whom just finished evicting some pretty dirty folks. He says they paid their rent on time every month, but last month he had to enter the home to fix a plumbing situation and what he came face to face with was beyond him. He claims there were approx a hundred animals from reptiles to mice and rats. And a handful of cats and a lonely old Pug. He evicted them due to the horrific conditions the animals and home were kept.
Well he went in to gut out the apartment and he went into the closet and low and behold a snake was residing in there.
He didn't know the species and didn't know where to turn for help.
Logically he started with the animal control. Well they only deal with dogs. So he called the Department of Environmental Protection, but they only deal with wildlife. They told him to call the Dept of Agriculture. But again they don't deal with wildlife. Huh, does this little guy fall under wildlife or domestic animal laws and regulations in CT?
Luckily when he contacted the DEP for the second time he called the right number and was referred to us.
So we drove on down through half the state after I got out of work.
Of course by phone the description I get is it is a large 4 to 6 ft snake that is black with brown diamonds on it. So I figure your typical Burmese python (the number one abandoned snake, at least around here).
But when we arrive we find a cute lil ball:

Well she (positive female) is doing ok, not in that bad of shape. A bit under weight, but not as bad as expected. Blood was drawn at our vet and we should get the results back shortly, along with a routine fecal she will be well on her way to the adoption branch of Rusty Reptiles

Can you all help me think of a good name for her.
I figure something in reference to her situation. I am just too tired to think at the moment.

Great job on this rescue Rusty! It is great that the guy was able to call you after being shuffled from dept. to dept..... that is one lucky little girl.
