    Question Too hot?

Ok, I've read everything about how to keep the cage warm enough, but what about during a hot summer? Is there anything I should do to keep one side COOLER, and what would everyone suggest? I haven't had Jade during a summer yet, and want to know what to do before there's a problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jenn

    Re: Too hot?

Like you I haven't had a royal thru a hot summer yet but what we are planning to do is this (we don't have AC)....

add more holes to the Sterlite to aid in air movement and to keep heat from building up too much (we can just cover them up when the cooler weather comes I figure)

move her container to the coolest room in the house if need be

put a fan in the room to move the air around

    adjust her undertank heater accordingly

I always add an icecube to my other pets water dish during the summer months but not sure if this is advisable with a snake.

Personally I'm more worried about humidity issues as we can get some horrid humid weather in Michigan during August.

Thank goodness balls like warm conditions.

    Re: Too hot?

Our house is not air conditioned and it can get pretty hot and humid in the summer. I've found this to be more of a blessing than a curse. If I keep my UTHs on a low setting and ditch any other heat source, especially overhead lights, things usually stay just perfect. I love not having to worry about humidity levels in the summer.
