    should I do this trade?

I have been toying with an idea. My friend has a nippy female BP at her shop that is not selling, because, well people only seem to want want a BP who is, well, not nippy. She eats well on f/t mice. She was an '04 hatchling from Reptile Addicts, and she's a nice size now.
Now, I have 4 males at home, and I really want to focus more on breeding in the next few years. So, I was thinking of offering her a trade, namely, a male for a female. I have one male that she really likes, since he is very docile and eats well. She always handles him when she comes over and I know she would go for the trade. A more docile BP would also be more likely to sell at her store, and in the meantime she would enjoy him more than Miss Nippy. And I could raise the female up and breed her in a few years along with my female Bela.
Would you? The male I am thinking of trading, is an '03 and has pretty cool markings while her female is nothing exceptional. But I really want another female.

I'd go for it as long as they are of similar size, healthy...etc. I know you'd like ot breed Bela someday, and well, if you want to breed you need more females than males. Your extra male may end up going to some random person, or she may end up keeping him.

Do you think she'll calm down with more handling, and a less stressful environment?

Ginny I know by now that you are a good enough keeper to be able to work with a nippy female. I also know that you accept the fact that she may never calm down & that you might have to deal with her being nippy forever. It isn't as though being bitten by one of these little buggers is a big deal. I think that you should have enough confidence in your own ability as a keeper to go for the trade in a heartbeat! You know how much you love a challenge! LOL!
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

It turns out the female is sold.
But on the better side, I was able to sell one of my rescue males to a guy who is really knowledgible and breeds basilisks. So at least it has been a kinda good week. (:
