What's the best resource for valuing your snakes for when it's time to move on?

Is Morph Market and trying to line up all the genes a particular snake has the best way, or is there some other way to get a basic idea of what to ask? I'm trying to move on from mine with local people and I honestly have no clue what to ask.

That is complicated.
If you are selling local: The real question is: What will someone *PAY* for one of your snakes?

Quality of the Snake/Availability/Age/Sex/Breeding Status (Proven/UnProven)+Your Reputation will all be factors.

At certain times of the year (outside of 'hatching season') you can command larger amounts of money.

100% Hets have value, 66% adds little, and 50% almost none.

MorphMarket is a good tool if you want to get a 'ballpark' number. If you could buy a better specimen than yours online (same age/sex/genetics), then you really shouldn't try charging above that unless you can defend your reasoning to a customer.

If a customer is willing to buy more than one snake then it is prudent to 'cut them a deal'.

If someone asks you if you can supply them with food for their pet as well...then the answer is always: *Yes*...and then maybe give them a little better price on the snake. Long-term supply of rodents can easily add up to more than the original cost of the snake, and some people add quantities of snakes rapidly to their collection and more food=more money in your pocket...

Do keep in mind-that the longer you are holding specimens for sale---the more money it is costing you to maintain them. Be ready for some customers to rely on that as leverage during price negotiations.

There's some truth in that, no matter what you're buying & selling. Stuff is only worth what people will pay for it, & the ones willing to pay "your price" are not always within your reach, or willing to reach where you are.
