bcr229's advise is excellent. The bigger the snake & the bigger the potential bite, the more important it is to avoid experiencing that first-hand when feeding them. I like to remind everyone that while we (humans) rely most on our vision to identify things, snakes rely on scent (& also touch, but that's not practical at feeding time-LOL). What they see doesn't full narrow things down for them: motion nearby might be prey or predator. So it helps to get creative & give them a totally unappetizing scent-

    Re: Just curious

I only have ball pythons. I spot clean my bps every day in the early morning and they all seem to be sound asleep.

On my days off I usually clean my rodents in the morning and feeding prep work should be completed and ready to go by early afternoon. It takes me 2-3 hours/week to feed my collection...so if I start at 1pm I will usually be done by 4. I prefer to do it during the daylight hours so I can spot any potential issues (like them dropping the rodent in the water bowl and then losing interest and begging for another ).
